SUMMARY:

This research investigates the possibilities of creative expression in dance through the lens of children's imagination, focusing on children in the early stages of cognitive and motor development in elementary school. Drawing from a sensitive listening to the child’s body and pedagogical practices that privilege expressive freedom, this study explores the relationship between music, imagination, and movement as catalysts for creativity. The primary objective is to understand how imagination can drive creative processes in dance, contributing to the development of autonomy, expressiveness, and the child’s integral growth. The methodology is qualitative, anchored in action research through participant observation, reflective records, and practical experiences with elementary school students. By intertwining art, childhood, and education, this research aims to build pathways for a dance pedagogy that embraces the poetic gesture of the child, fostering the emergence of creative, sensitive subjects who are aware of their ways of existing and expressing themselves in the world.
