SUMMARY:

This research project focuses on the systematization and standardization of the graduation ceremony process (colação de grau) in the undergraduate courses at the Federal University of Rio Grande do Norte (UFRN). The study contextualizes the graduation ceremony not only as a celebration, but as an official, administrative, and legal act mandatory for professional practice. The investigation traces the historical evolution of the rite (from the Middle Ages to the digital era) and analyzes the legal aspects based on federal guidelines and UFRN's internal regulations. The central problem lies in the fragmentation of rules across multiple regulations and ordinances, combined with the lack of a specific protocol and ceremonial department within the Academic Centers and management turnover. This creates a reliance on the tacit knowledge of staff (know-how) and leaves room for errors and embarrassments, such as students attending ceremonies despite having remaining curricular requirements. To solve this challenge, the general objective is to create a UFRN Graduation Ceremony Manual. The proposed methodology adopts a mixed and descriptive approach, combining bibliographical and documentary research with in loco observation through action research (As-Is mapping and To-Be modeling using BPMN/BizAgi notation). The final product aims to centralize information, promote transparency, and ensure inclusive rites aligned with equity policies and the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) of the 2030 Agenda.
