Patient safety: construction and validation of a checklist for use in a public maternity hospital
Patient Safety. Checklist. Verification list. Nursing Processes.
Patient safety is a key element in ensuring quality health, being a current, relevant and widely discussed topic by various agencies, institutions and health sectors. Patient Safety involves actions promoted by health institutions to reduce to an acceptable minimum the risk of unnecessary harm associated with the care provided. Given the importance of the topic, this study will aim to build and validate an instrument that promotes actions aimed at increasing patient safety, applicable in High Frequency Surgeries (CAF), performed at the Inferior Genital Tract Pathology (PTGI) clinic of the Januário Cicco Maternity School (MEJC), adapting for this the model proposed by the World Health Organization (WHO). This is a methodological study, with a mixed approach, to be developed in two stages. Stage I will be characterized by the development of the instrument called High Frequency Surgery Cheklist (CCAF), while stage II will validate the appearance and content of the instrument by a group of five judges, using a Likert-type scale and Cronbach's alpha coefficient, in order to ensure the reliability of the tool. The present study seeks to bring as a result a simple and effective resource, with low financial cost, which can provide the execution of important care processes in a safe manner, as well as promoting greater interaction between the team, a fundamental aspect for quality care.
