The objective of this study is to understand the elements that constitute History teachings between the years 1991 and 1992, as found in the lesson planning notebooks of Professor Ana Afra. These notebooks were turned into sources upon contact with the NDM - Núcleo de Documentação e Memória da Educação do RN/IFESP - Institute of Higher Education Presidente Kennedy. As objects of school culture and daily records, these notebooks can reveal examples of History teaching and learning in the capital of Rio Grande do Norte. The methodology that will be employed is based on the historical method and emphasizes the need to write narratives that unveil the diversity of teaching and learning History. This proposition takes into consideration the existing debates within the research field of History teaching, in order to go beyond a dichotomized historiographical construction that is limited to productions about traditional and innovative teaching or constrained by educational prescriptions and legislation.
