SUMMARY:

Pregnancy is a dynamic physiological process that can undergo changes
resulting from the interaction between biological, obstetric, behavioral, and social factors,
favoring the development of maternal and fetal complications. This complexity
challenges healthcare professionals to identify not only isolated risk factors, but also the interaction between them, since it is this combination that determines the pregnant woman's vulnerability to the development of complications. In this context, it becomes necessary to adopt innovative strategies that broaden the capacity to recognize this vulnerability. However, although clinical practice has tools for stratifying gestational risk and various nursing diagnoses focused on specific conditions, the absence, in the NANDA International Taxonomy (NANDA-I), of a diagnosis capable of comprehensively representing the pregnant woman's vulnerability to unfavorable pregnancy outcomes resulting from the interaction between multiple risk factors is observed. This gap limits the systematization of care, hinders the nurse's clinical reasoning, and restricts the development of targeted preventive interventions. In this context, this study aims to create and validate the proposed nursing diagnosis "Risk of complicated pregnancy".

This is

a methodological study, based on the framework for the development and
validation of nursing diagnoses proposed by Lopes and Silva. The study will be
developed in three stages: The first will correspond to the theoretical-causal validity,
involving the construction of a Middle-Range Theory from an integrative literature review, with identification of essential attributes, clinical history,
at-risk populations, associated conditions, conceptual and operational definitions,
elaboration of a pictogram and construction of the diagnostic structure according to the NANDA-I components. The second stage will consist of the content validation of the
diagnostic proposal by specialists with experience in nursing diagnoses
and/or high-risk pregnancy, using the Content Validity Index (CVI).

Subsequently, the clinical-causal validation of the diagnosis will be carried out, aiming to verify
its applicability and consistency in clinical practice. The proposed diagnosis is expected to contribute to expanding the nurse's diagnostic capacity, strengthening the Nursing Process in obstetric care, promoting the early identification of vulnerable pregnant women, supporting preventive interventions, and improving evidence-based clinical decision-making. Furthermore, it aims to contribute to the advancement of nursing diagnostic taxonomies, expand scientific production in the area of maternal health, and provide support for the future incorporation of the diagnosis into NANDA International, strengthening women's health care and contributing to the reduction of maternal and neonatal morbidity and mortality.
