SUMMARY:

Occupational stress among health professionals is a complex and multifactorial phenomenon, with direct impacts on workers' health and the quality of care provided. Nursing, as a scientific discipline and social practice, has invested in building theories to guide practice and strengthen its epistemological basis. The aim of this project is to build and validate a Nursing Mid-Range Theory (MRT) for the risk of stress overload in healthcare professionals. It is a methodological study, operationalized in two stages: theoretical-causal validity and content validation. The construction will be based on a scoping review of the literature, analysis of the concept of occupational stress, formulation of propositions and validation by experts. It is hoped that the proposed TMA will contribute to the early identification of risk, subsidizing nursing interventions and fostering care practices aimed at workers' health. The scientific relevance of the study lies in strengthening the body of nursing theory and responding to emerging demands in the health work context.
