Dialectical Materialism and Historical Materialism: the form of method in Marx and Engels
Marx, Method, Historical Materialism, form, exposition
The present investigation begins from the perception of a divergence within Marxist theory regarding the appropriate way to present the investigative method on which Marxian thought relied. We understand that, in the process of developing their theory, Marx and Engels relied on a method of analyzing reality at the very moment they were developing it. However, this is a conclusion that can only be inferred after reading a set of texts by these authors, since their objects of investigation were primarily the urgent issues of the time in which they lived, and whenever they discussed the method, it was always in order to clarify more precisely the object they were presenting.
