SUMMARY:

Lean leadership is fundamental to the effective implementation of continuous improvement and innovation practices in organizations. This approach emplasizes the importance of leaders who not Only manage processes, but who also inspire and empower their teams to seek constant improvement and innovation. The Lean methodology, including Kaizen, offers tools that facititate this cultural and operational transformation. The objective of this study is to investigate the influence of leadership in promoting innovation and implementing improvements within organizations. Based on a literature review, the work seeks to deepen the analysis of the relationship between leadership and innovation, highlighting the scarcity of research that examines this interconnection in more detail. The relevance of the topic is evident both for society, from the perspective of workers, and for the survival and competitiveness of organizations. The study emphasizes the importance of understanding the role of leadership in production systems, with special attention to innovation, creativity and continuous process improvements, such as those promoted by the Kaizen methodology. These elements are essential to increase the chances of success and sustainability of organizations. A clear example of this relationship is the Lean Production System, whose global success is often attributed to the Japanese culture, which was responsible for its creation and dissemination. However, this research proposes that the effectiveness of the Lean system fundamentally depends on the type of leadership implemented. Through a critical analysis of the literature on the Lean Production System, transformational leadership and organizational change processes, this study aims to demonstrate the central role of leadership in the implementation and success of Lean practices. To explore this dynamic, a framework was developed that analyzes the interconnection between different leadership styles and the application of Lean principles. This framework assesses the impact of different leadership approaches on the adoption and effectiveness of Lean tools in organizations. The results obtained offer valuable insights into the role of leadership in facilitating organizational change and promoting continuous improvement. The study highlights, in particular, the need for strategic and adaptive leadership, which is essential to ensure the sustainable success of the Lean Production System. By integrating innovation, creativity and continuous improvement into organizational processes, leadership becomes a determining factor for the competitive performance and longevity of organizations.
