DEVELOPMENT AND VALIDATION OF A COMPUTERIZED TOOL FOR SUPPORT PRESCRIPTION OF PARENTERAL NUTRITION INDUSTRIALIZED IN A HOSPITAL UNIVERSITY

The choice of parenteral nutritional therapy, intended for patients unable to feeding through the gastrointestinal tract aims to provide a nutritional suitable for these patients and thus prevent the worsening of their health condition. Considering the complexity of this therapy and its components, this input is categorized as a medicine and its use can bring risks associated with errors in the stages of prescription, dispensing and administration, which can cause serious complications to patients. In this scenario, this project aims to develop and validate a computerized tool to support the prescription of parenteral nutrition in an environment hospital, with the aim of increasing the safety of the assisted patient and reducing errors in prescription. This research will be carried out at the University Hospital of the University Federal Government of Maranhao and will consist of three stages: literature review, development of the tool, and validation with a multidisciplinary team. In the end, it is expected that the product contains functionality to automate dosage calculations and safety alerts, and that its use allows the reduction of prescription time, increases precision and safety, and contribute to better nutritional outcomes and patient experience.
