PUBLIC POLICIES AND THE DISSEMINATION OF SERRANO TOURISM IN THE INTERIOR OF NORTHEAST BRAZIL
Tourism. Mountains. Public Policy. Sustainability.
Brazilian tourism has differences between regions, due to organizational structure or marketing formats, which prioritize mass destinations in the southeast and south regions of Brazil and coastal destinations in the northeast region. The diffusion to the interior finds obstacles to the evolution of the activity, but the central management established criteria and requirements for the municipalities to participate in the Brazilian Tourism Map. The interiorization of tourism can represent the diversification of the tourist product and a possibility for the strengthening of the internal market. It can also contribute to the management of natural and cultural heritage, in dialogue with the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). The objective is to analyze how public policies contributed to the diffusion of tourism in the mountainous areas of the interior of the Brazilian northeast, observing the application of sustainability. It is intended to understand tourism in mountainous municipalities in the interior of the states, using methods of bibliographical and documentary research, to identify and characterize the main municipalities, with data collected from official agencies and Tourism publications. The perception is that tourism in the mountains occurs throughout the country, due to natural environmental issues, climatic conditions or the landscape, the mountains are present. In northeastern Brazil, it is possible to identify the contribution of mountain ranges to tourism in 5 of the 9 states in the region, with destinations that are a tourist option for the interior and an alternative to the large flows oriented to the coast.
