SUMMARY:

Text-based teaching enables the development of linguistic skills, enabling students to recognize different discursive genres in society through textual understanding and interpretation. After the COVID-19 pandemic, there was an increase in the gap in Portuguese language teaching, especially in relation to the practice of reading, understanding and interpreting texts. In order to develop a learning proposal aimed at the use of verbal and non-verbal language production based on reading, understanding and interpreting the discursive genre propaganda in a seventh year elementary school class, this research proposal hopes, through application of didactic-pedagogical activities on the propaganda discursive genre, explaining how this genre is understood and interpreted by students during the school period in question to verify the efficiency of the teaching and learning methods of these texts. At the end, it is planned to produce a booklet to guide teachers on how to proceed in learning the propaganda genre. Thus, based on the concept of discursive genre proposed by Bronckart (2006), that is, social practices that have distinct linguistic and communicative characteristics shaped by social interaction, communicative conventions and the communicative purposes of a community, it is considered to produce, by through the action research method, a didactic sequence (DOLZ; NOVERRAZ; SCHNEWLY, 2004) to outline how the teaching of the propaganda genre should occur with elementary school students – final years, focusing on practices of understanding and interpreting texts .
