SUMMARY:

Nowadays, the insertion of students in new educational practices in Portuguese language classes has been relevant for teaching-learning and their intelectual development in their first language. These practices contribute to improving their writing and reading skills, which are important elements for the interaction and constitution of the individual in society and the formation of a critical and autonomous citizen in interaction through reading and writing, so as to become an agent of transformation in their reality and society. In this way, this study aims to understand how the retextualization of cordel literature to comics will contribute to the teaching and learning of students in Portuguese language classes regarding the writing process. Therefore, analyzing the students’ entire writing process during the retextualization proposal is to lead them to be participative and creative in their textual productions, making them overcome their difficulties in writing throughout the entire process, so that the teaching and learning occur systematically. In addition to having social and cultural functions for the students, the study with the genres cordel literature and comics will also show the importance of writing for the autonomy of the participants. To this end, this proposal starts from action research of a qualitative nature, developed by a didactic sequence based on the proposal by Dolz, Schneuwly and Noverraz (2004), and is designed for a sixth-grade class. As for the results, it is expected that all the objective of the research are achieved, so that students may understand the process of retextualization and be protagonists and authors of their textual productions in a conscious, critical, and autonomous way. Thus, contributing to their formation as citizens of the world.
