RESUMO:

This research had as motivation the problems in writing presented by the students of the 9th grade of Elementary School of a public school, located in Fortaleza - CE. In this way, we define as objective, to investigate the textual production of these students, specifically with respect to the construction of arguments. Thus, this research is theoretically grounded in the works of Costa Val (1994) Koch (1984, 2010), Cavalcante (2013), Geraldi (2004), Marcuschi (2002, 2008, 2010), Antunes ), among others, with respect to the conception of text, textual typology and argumentative text. In relation to the argumentation and teaching of the argumentative text, we follow the studies of Perelman (1970), Fiorin (2017), Breton (1999), Koch and Elias (2017), Faraco (1992), besides the contributions of other researchers. Methodologically, because it is an action research, which follows a qualitative approach, we seek the guidelines of Brandão (1990), Bogdan and Biklen (1994), Thiollent (1998), among others. The data were collected through the application of a didactic sequence, according to the guidelines of Dolz, Noverraz and Schneuwly (2004). Thus, the corpus of the research was composed by the initial and final textual productions of the students, from which we proceeded to analyze the data in these two moments. In this perspective, the problems observed in the initial production directed the pedagogical activities during the intervention. Thus, it was possible to compare the text production of the students before and after developing the proposal, and the results revealed the effectiveness of the work done, since the students began to write more meaningful argumentative texts achieving, including positioning themselves more critically important social issues. There was also an improvement in the development of communicative competence, more specifically in relation to the written production of the argumentative text.
