SUMMARY:

Chronic Wounds are ulcers that have a difficult healing process or nearly interrupt the
increased risk of health complications such as amputations and infections. This work applied
a noninvasive methodology for computing areas affected by necrosis, in contrast to the
common invasive techniques used for this calculation, such as a plastic film planning manual.
One proposed methodology consists of segmenting the wounds, following the classification
of tissues as necrotic, granular or slit. Then, a three-dimensional (3D) reconstruction of the
wound surface is performed to obtain a better approximation of the areas occupied by the
different tissue classes. In addition, we have developed a mobile application prototype to
assist in monitoring the evolution of chronic wound care, the type of treatment application
used, and a specific function for calculating how many larvae are used to treat a wound to
be used in Larval Therapy.
