SUMMARY:

Background and objectives: In view of the chronicity and therapeutic complexity of venous ulcers, the care of these wounds to provide a significant improvement in quality of life is substantial in a specialized and qualified way. The objective was to assess the quality of life associated with pain in patients with venous ulcers in Primary Health Care in the municipality of Parnamirim, Rio Grande do Norte. Methods: Cross-sectional study with a quantitative approach with 54 people with venous ulcers. Instruments of sociodemographic and health characterization, Short Form Health Survey-36 and visual analog scale of pain were used. Results: Pain was severe in many individuals, from moderate to severe, and in general they had a good quality of life, vitality, social, emotional and mental health. The best quality of life is related to mild pain, social function, physical dimensions and mental health. Lower quality of life was related to greater pain intensity. Correlation between quality of life and pain was mostly weak and negative. Conclusion: An inversely proportional relationship between quality of life and pain was found; the lower the intensity of pain, the greater the quality of life.
