SUMMARY:

Papillary thyroid carcinoma (PTC) is a malignant lesion that affects the thyroid gland, b eing the most frequent malignant neoplasm in this location.Despite recent progress in re search on this topic, understanding of the biological and molecular processes involved i n development and progression of this neoplasm is not yet completely elucidated. Thus, new molecular biomarkers have been researched in order to better clarify this pr cess. Among the several markers studied, the proteins associated with the Hippo Pathway (VH) stand out, which participates in the control of homeostasis and tissue regeneration. as well as in the process of carcinogenesis when there is dysregulation of the pathway. The main proteins of this pathway, in mammals, MST1/2 and LAST1/2 have as main function to regulate the transcription co-activators YAP and TAZ, which in turn, when in the nucleus function as co-activators of the transcription factor TEAD. Therefore, this research aims to evaluate some proteins related to VH in CPTs, in order to evaluate whether these molecules can influence the biological behavior of these lesions. The sample will consist of 30 cases of PTCs with clinical-pathological information which will be used for immunohistochemical evaluation of YAP-1, LATS-2 and TEAD proteins. In these lesions. To evaluate the immunoexpression, a semiquantitative analysis of the cells will be performed immunolabeled tumors in the cytoplasm and/or nucleus, throughout the lesion for each of the markers studied and immunopositivity was classified into four scores: 0 (0-10%), 1 (>10%-40%), 2 (>40%-70%) and 3 (>70%-100%). For statistical analysis, a significance level of 5% (p< 0.05) will be established.
