SUMMARY:

The imbalance of the resident microbiota with the host's defenses results in infections by opportunistic microorganisms. Within this group are superinfectious microorganisms, which develop rapidly when there is a suppression of part of the resident microbiota and are known to be resistant to most antimicrobials. Among these microorganisms are the fungi that cause diseases such as oral candidosis. Traditionally, infections caused by candidosis are treated with antifungals. However, the effect of these drugs is weakened by resistance and causes adverse effects. In this sense, the increased prevalence and complexity of multidrug-resistant microorganisms have encouraged the search for complementary and alternative therapies capable of acting effectively against emerging drug resistance. Therefore, this study aims to comparatively evaluate the antimicrobial action, in vitro, of photodynamic therapy (methylene blue), phytotherapy (Spondias mombin L. at concentration 500µm/ml) and probiotic (Lactobacillus rhamnosus) in the control of superinfectious and opportunistic microorganisms from the oral environment (Candida albicans, Candida krusei, Candida tropicalis, Candida parapsilosis and Candida glabrata). For this, the Inhibitory Activity of Microbial Growth in its planktonic forms and in Mixed Culture, the Evaluation of the Anti-adherent Activity, the Fungicide Kinetics and the Antibiofilm Activity in mono and multi-species biofilms, using as control the nystatin 100,000UI/mL, in triplicate. As for the statistical analysis, besides the descriptive interpretation, the Two-Way ANOVA and Tukey's test will be applied in this study.
