Introduction: Molar Incisor Hypomineralization (MIH) is a qualitative defect that occurs during the dental enamel development, which affects at least one first permanent molar and is often associated with permanent incisors. Hypomineralized enamel is fragile and porous, being more susceptible to fractures and to the development of carious lesions, dentin exposure and hypersensitivity, which can interfere with orthodontic practice. Aim: To assess the Orthodontists level of knowledge regarding MIH and to compile protocols currently used by them. Methodology: This is a cross-sectional observational study, whose unit of observation is the orthodontist. A specific questionnaire was developed for this research, including questions about the MIH diagnosis, clinical experience and orthodontic conduct regarding this condition. The data collection instrument underwent validation, conducted by 10 Pediatric Dentists, as these professionals present experience related to MIH. The sample will consist of orthodontists with an active registration of the specialty. The dependent variables will be the knowledge of Orthodontists about MIH and the orthodontic clinical conduct of these professionals in face of MIH. The independent variables will be sociodemographic characteristics, time since graduation in Dentistry and Orthodontics and second specialty. The collected data will be inserted into SPSS program, tabulated and treated statistically.
