SUMMARY:

The Hematological neoplasms consist in a heterogeneous group of lesions that affect the hematopoietic precursors of the bone marrow causing, among others, Leukemias, Lymphomas and Myelomas. Treatment modalities are varied, including hematopoietic stem cell transplantation, considered a potentially curative procedure, but which carries an increased risk of developing adverse effects and the development of oral changes due to immunosuppression caused by the chemotherapy conditioning regimen or by its own toxicity of this agent. Among the main alterations are mucositis, opportunistic infections, bleeding, xerostomia, dysgeusia and graft-versus-host disease. Thereby, the present study proposes to analyze the risk factors related to the development of oral alterations in patients who are undergoing hematopoietic stem cell transplantation during the time of hospitalization. This is an observational longitudinal, cohort study to be carried out in patients that are assisted by the bone marrow transplant sector in a main hospital in Rio Grande do Norte between December 2020 and June 2022. Data will be compiled and organized in Microsoft Excel® spreadsheets and analyzed later in the SPSS® for Windows software. Pearson's chi-square, Fisher’s exact test and Mann-Whitney test will be performed to verify associations between variables, in addition the Kaplan-Meier method will be performed to estimate the survival probability.
