SUMMARY:

This diagnostic study aimed to analyze the diagnostic accuracy of the digital design in relation to the conventional design of partially edentulous arches for planning removable partial dentures (RPD). The sample consisted of 30 models of partially edentulous arches in the STL (Tesselation Standard Language) format, which were submitted to two methods: conventional design (Group DC), from the impression of the models and digital (Group DV), with the files STL of the model imported into Dental Wings software. A specific form was designed to collect the following items: guide plans, retentive areas, reciprocity and design time. The sensitivity and specificity of the digital design in relation to the conventional design were evaluated. It is concluded that the software used to carry out the digital design proved to be accurate for planning the PPR. Digital design requires less working time than conventional design.
