SUMMARY:

Local anesthetics in Dentistry are essential when pain in expected during certain procedures. The association of local anesthetics and vasoconstrictors promotes anesthetic efficacy, local hemostasis and decreases the risk of systemic intoxication of local anesthetics. Nonetheless, local anesthetics with vasoconstrictors can cause important cardiovascular changes which necessitate special care and patient monitoring. A randomized controlled clinical trial will be developed to evaluate if local anesthetics with vasoconstrictors can predispose cardiovascular changes in healthy patients and in patients with diagnosed heart disease after administration of lidocaine 2% with epinephrine 1:100.000 in oral surgical procedures. Patients will receive surgery and measurements of heart rate, systemic blood pressure, oxygen saturation will be made along with a Holter exam (ischemic and extra ventricular systole events) and catecholamines serum concentration.
