INFLUENCE OF TWO PROSTHETIC COMPONENTS ON THE BEHAVIOR OF PERI-IMPLANTAR TISSUES AFTER SINGLE REHABILITATION IN AESTHETIC REGION

SUMMARY:

The stability of the soft tissue and bone around the implant is a critical component for long-term implant success and can be influenced by a number of factors inherent in rehabilitation, including the different types of prosthetic connections. PURPOSE: To compare the behavior of peri-implant tissue in rehabilitation with single implant-supported crowns in the esthetic region, using a prefabricated titanium abutment or custom-milled zircônia abutment. METHODOLOGY: In this longitudinal, blinded, non-randomized, controlled clinical trial study, forty patients who needed single implant in esthetic area will be sequentially allocated into two groups: 20 will receive a  prefabricated titanium abutment ( G1) and 20 a custom-milled zircônia abutment. (G2). The behavior of the peri-implant tissue will be evaluated at T0 (time before implantation), T1 (at the beginning of tissue conditioning) and T2 (after the conditioning process), T3 (one week after final crown cementation) and T4 ( one year after final crown cementation). Visible Plaque Index (IPV), Gingival Bleeding Index (ISG), Probing Depth (PS), Interdental Papillary Height/Width Ratio (AP/LP), Ratio Crown Height/Width (AC/LC), Keratinized Mucosal Band (MC), Gingival Thickness (EG), Periodontal Phenotype (FP), Gingival Recession (RG), radiographic data of the distance from the bone crest to the contact point of the rehabilitated element, Pink Esthetic Score (PES) will be evaluated. Data analysis between times will be performed using Friedman's tests, while the comparison between groups will be through the Kruskal-Wallis test, Mann-Whitney test and Chi-square/Fisher's exact test, both with a significance level of 5%. EXPECTED RESULTS: It is expected that G1 presents improved clinical results due to different stages of disconnection and reconnection of the implant to the prosthetic component that occur in G2. This process can affect the stability of the peri-implant tissue, generate inflammation and also bone loss.
