Impact of the use of personal protective equipment on headache in Dentists and Doctors of Rio Grande do Norte

Introduction: The alert state caused by the disease of the new Coronavirus (COVID-19) can negatively impact the health of individuals. Health professionals are highly exposed to contamination by the virus, especially dental surgeons and doctors, due to their frequent performance, very close to the patient. It is known that headache may be related to individual protective equipment used in the daily lives of these professionals. Objective: The present study seeks to evaluate the consequences of the use of personal protective equipment and headache conditions in dental surgeons and doctors in Rio Grande do Norte. Methodology: The professionals were invited to participate in the research via electronic messages through social networks and contact networks of the researchers involved. A link to a Google file with forms about signs and symptoms was sent to them through the questionnaire for headache (Questionnaire on headaches associated with personal protective equipment - Adapted). For statistical analysis the data were gathered in a database created in the program Statistical Package for the Social Science (SPSS) 22.0. Descriptive analyzes of the data were performed with absolute values, frequencies and measures of central tendency and variability. For the crossing of the variables, Student's t or Man Whitney tests will be performed, as well as the chi square, for crossing between groups, with a 95% confidence level.
