SUMMARY:

Objective: To evaluate objectively and subjectively the influence of prosthetic abutment on esthetic of single implants. Materials and Methods: A blind, non-randomized controlled trial was performed. The group division was done by a sequential allocation, the first half of the patients was rehabilitated with a titanium prefabricated abutment (G1) and the second with a full preparable abutment (G2). Gingival conditioning was performed using the non-surgical gradual pressure technique. Esthetic satisfaction was assessed by a visual analog scale (VAS). Clinical evaluation of gingival mucosa was also collected. Partial Results: Thirty implants were installed in the aesthetic region of the maxilla of 28 patients (19 women and 9 men), with a mean age of 38.9 ± 11.3 years. Twenty-six provisional crowns were inserted (15 G1 and 11 G2) and 16 patients completed the gingival conditioning process. The gingival clinical evaluation showed that the thick biotype was the most frequent. Overall patient satisfaction was 84.12 ± 23.41 with 82.53 ± 25.22 for G1 and 87.51 ± 18.84 for G2. Satisfaction with the bone volume in the rehabilitated region obtained the highest scores for both groups. Perspectives for conclusion: After the qualification exam, patients in osseointegration process and gingival conditioning will be concluded, and will be possible to complete the satisfaction assessments and clinical analysis of peri-implant esthetics. Then, statistical analysis of data will be performed, final results will be elaborated and a scientific article will be write.
