RESUMO:

With the increasing use of dental implants in Dentistry the prevalence of peri-implant mucositis and peri-implantitis in several populations is observed. The aim of this study is to determine the prevalence of peri-implantitis and associated factors  in individuals who underwent rehabilitation treatment with dental implants in the Dentistry Departament of the Federal University of Rio Grande do Norte in the last 15 years. This study is an observational-sectional in which 155 patients were invited to perform the clinical assessment. The following parameters were clinically evaluated: plaque and gingival bleeding indexes, bleeding on periodontal and peri-implant probing, periodontal and peri-implant probing depth, gingival retraction, clinical level of attachment, keratinized mucosa, mobility of the implants, suppuration and radiographic examination was performed to observe the presence of supracrestal exposure of the implant threads. Regarding prosthetic rehabilitation, clinical evaluation was performed on the type of rehabilitation (screwed or cemented, anterior and / or posterior, unitary or partial), loosening, loss or fracture of the screw, imbalances between intermediate and implant and between intermediate and prosthesis, resin fracture, ceramic or metal structure, loss of the retention mechanism in overdentures and / or Branemark protocol and whether the prosthesis would have undergone any type of previous repair. Statistical analysis will consist of a bivariate analysis using the Chi-square / Fisher's exact test to identify possible associated factors with clinical conditions and subsequent multiple logistic regression through the hierarchical model.
