SUMMARY:

Local history contributes to the exercise of historical thinking. The absence of a historical narrative
about Muriú Beach, in the municipality of Ceará-Mirim/RN, compromises the identity formation of
Muriú students with their local community. Thus, we present a pedagogical intervention
proposal—workshop-classes to be taught in basic education classes, specifically in Youth and Adult
Education (EJA)—aimed at filling this existing gap in the students' school-identity formation in that
locality.
