Formative assessment in medical internship

Introduction: This study is a dissertation of the professional master's degree in health education. It deals with formative assessment in medical internship.This is a process that aims to contribute to the training of professionals. Objective: To study the process of formative assessment in the internship of the undergraduate medical course at the Federal University of Rio Grande do Norte. Method: It is an observational research, in a quantitative approach. A questionnaire was applied to teachers and another to students, from 07/2021 to 12/2021. Results and discussions: Two products were generated in this study, a digital narrative on the conceptualization of formative assessment and a scientific article. The first brings contributions to the understanding of evaluation as a process with several nuances. The second product brings the results and discussions arising from the data obtained from the questionnaires. Practical applications in the training of health professionals: The developments of this study point to gains in the long, short and medium term. It still needs further clarification on formative assessment, its essence, its objective and its consequences in relation to the educational process in the teaching-learning-assessment aspect. It also brings that formative assessment is something that needs to be internalized and absorbed in the educational process, contributing in an exceptional way to the training of professionals, committed to the context of current health demands.
