DEVELOPMENT OF A DIGITAL TOOL FOR AID IN THE EDUCATION OF HEALTH PROFESSIONALS ON THE DETERMINATION OF ENCEPHALIC DEATH.

With the technological advancement of Medicine, patients began to be maintained through mechanical ventilation and vasoactive drugs despite the complete and irreversible brain injury. Accurate diagnosis of brain death (BD) reduces costs, shortens the family's suffering, and increases the availability of intensive care beds and organs for transplantation. Guidelines were created to standardize diagnostic parameters, but the knowledge of medical students and medical professionals has been proved insufficient. To provide a teaching tool to assist health professionals’ training, an application for computers and mobile devices with the necessary guidance for BD determination using images, videos and interactive content was developed. A software to create and animate 3D models (Makehuman and Blender) and a game development platform (Unity) were used. Versions for all the major operating systems (iOS, Android, MacOS, Windows and Linux) will be made available in online repositories and mobile application stores.
