SUMMARY:

This dissertation proposes a technical approach for the electric guitar based on the adaptation of violin repertoire. Acknowledging the violin’s pedagogical tradition and established body of practice, the research argues that performing this repertoire inspires technical and interpretative solutions that expand the guitarist’s performance possibilities. Although references to the violin already exist in the practices of virtuoso guitarists, these initiatives remain fragmented and lack formal academic treatment.

The methodology adopts an analytic autoethnographic character (T. S. López and D. J. L. Cano), conducting the technical analysis of the works and proposing technical solutions derived from the author's experience. The literature review points to the absence of studies that systematically bridge the technical transposition between the two instruments (violin and electric guitar) in the field of execution.

The study uses Antonio Bazzini’s piece La Ronde des Lutins as a case study. The analysis demonstrates how elements of high technical complexity in violin playing—such as artificial harmonics, double harmonics, and fast phrases in the upper register—demand adaptations that require the guitarist to develop very advanced techniques, such as having to execute artificial harmonics to play diatonic phrases and arpeggios in the high register, for example.

Subsequently, practical exercises derived from canonical passages are outlined, compiled in an Exercise Notebook (appendix). The work contributes to the proposal of a coherent didactic model and suggests future lines of research, such as instrumented biomechanical studies (EMG and motion capture), aiming to deepen the understanding of contemporary guitar technique.
