SUMMARY:

The aim of this research is to analyze two piano works by the Pernambuco

composer Júlio Braga using Topic Theory (RATNER, 1980; AGAWU, 2012) and

relating the works to research on Brazilian Topics (CAZARRÉ, 2001; PIEDADE,

2013). For a better explanation of Júlio Braga, a brief biography of the composer

is presented, highlighting the dissemination of the Brazilian repertoire in his

recitals as a pianist and an overview of his piano compositions. A cataloging by

title and sheet music editions of the two songs is also proposed.
