SUMMARY:
This research addresses the involvement of a common reality in our country, which is that of
cello-trained teachers working in social projects, teaching cello and double bass.
Considering the specificities of each instrument, the research aims to highlight basic double
bass principles for cellists, intending to assist in the quality of lessons and consequently in
the technical development of students. As a methodological tool, aspects of collective cello
and double bass teaching in Brazil were studied, and interviews were conducted with
teachers instructing both instruments. They discussed how they overcame the challenges of
teaching two distinct instruments.
