ZONING GEOENVIRONMENTAL BASIN SWEET RIVER - RN WITH GEOTECHNOLOGY SUPPORT

The present work has as main objective to introduce the thesis, whose objective will be the geoenvironmental zoning of the basin of Rio Doce – located in the northeastern portion, of the State of Rio Grande do Norte, covering an area of 387.8 square kilometers. To do so, will be diagnosed the physical medium for identification and prioritisation of environmental units for purposes of geoenvironmental zoning Rio Doce basin-RN, in 1:25,000 scale, having supported the GeoTechnologies, with a view to achieving the environmental and spatial planning of the basin. The theoretical framework is based on the Geosystems’s Theory, along with a discussion of topics such as planning, environment, Geotechnology, geosystems, landscape and spatial planning. The methodology is founded by Tricart’s Ecodynamics (1977), in the Ecogeography of Ross (2006) and in the proposal for environmental zoning of Crepani et al. (2001). At the moment, the Geographic’s database is being powered by physical and human environment media data from institutions like the IBGE, IDEMA, INPE, ANA, SEMARH, CPRM, CAERN. With these data it was possible the development of the first chapter, which deals with a proposal for demarcation of the basin of Rio Doce-RN from a comparative analysis of methodologies applied to the delineation of watersheds. After applying the tools in the SIG, it was proposed, based on the results obtained, a new delimitation for the basin. It was noticed that there are a series of negative environmental impacts from human action. In this sense, the present thesis is justified, as is considered necessary immediate action in the form of use and occupation present in the basin in the present day, aimed at environmental sustainability for the current society and its future generations.
