We analyzed the content of the themes and lyrics of the melodies presented by the repentistas at the Festival de Mulheres do Improviso (FEMI) in Campina Grande, transmitted and published on the YouTube channel of presenter Iponax Vila Nova, aiming to contribute to an understanding of female representation in the culture of improvisation; Investigate the construction and trajectory of the Festival de Mulheres do Improviso – FEMI and discuss the political-cultural role of repentistas, themes of repentistas in FEMI, occupation of space and female visibility in a hegemonically male field. We justify the academic and social relevance of the research, noting that even in view of the sudden recognition as cultural heritage by the National Historical and Artistic Heritage Institute (IPHAN) since 2021, women are still often represented in verses only as themes, and not as main authors of their singing. The research tends to offer social visibility and include the repentista woman in the scope of academic studies, as the festival aimed at women on stage can promote the recognition of the female presence in this situation, valuing cultural plurality. Methodologically, we will adopt Bardin's (2016) content analysis focused on Media Studies and Social Practices, with the aim of examining the melodies presented during the festival. Given the complexity of the topic, our study delves deeper into theoretical bases on Folkcommunication, suddenly, decoloniality genre.
