Analysis of the Journalistic Coverage in Digital Social Networks: the happening Rebellion in Alcaçuz transmitted in the lives of Facebook
Event. Journalistic convergence. Journalism. Social networking sites. Live streams.
This research has as main objective to analyze the journalistic practice and the strategies adopted by the newspapers Tribuna do Norte and Novo in the cover of the rebellion in Alcaçuz, in January of 2017, from the use of the live transmissions in Facebook. We start from the notion that the event always happens to someone and that we can understand it from two distinct forms, its double life - existential and object (QUÉRÉ, 2005; 2012). We work on the concept of social networking sites and seek to relate them to communicational practice in the context of convergence so that we can understand how journalistic events on Facebook are formed. Our empirical object is formed by 69 videos broadcast live on that platform between January 14 and 24, 2017, by the Tribuna do Norte and Novo newspapers, and is analyzed based on the adaptation of the methodological protocol Journalistic Coverage Analysis (ACJ) and semi-structured interviews. As a result, we note that the reason for the journals to adopt this device as a dissemination strategy was the possibility of the rebellion event in Licorice being reported in real time. However, with the application of the ACJ, we perceive the lack of critical-reflective coverage of the rebellion by reporters and newsrooms.
