From traditional tourism to plataformizado: The new local tourism plots in the interior of the Brazilian Northeast in the light of digital platforms

Tourism is a social practice that reflects contemporary phenomena in the global-local context and leads new plots in the socio-spatial dynamics of tourist places and/ or in the process of tourist. However, academic studies are still incipient, especially in Tourism as an area of knowledge production about phenomena such as the platforming of capitalism. Tourist and non-touristy places, under the tone of the "regional-local", express the protagonism of diverse digital platforms (Airbnb, Uber, Ifood etc.) when considering the low amount of traditional tourist equipment. Based on this panorama as a background, this doctoral study proposes to analyze the process of tourism platforming and its territorial developments in the interior of the Brazilian Northeast. This is a study of multiple cases with exploratory bias and qualitative approach from the following research techniques: literature review; documentary research; and field study with semi-structured interviews. This study foresees the debate about the tourism platforming from the protagonism of digital platforms such as Airbnb, Uber, and Ifood that restructure the lodging sector; transport sector; and Food & Beverage sector (A&B)tourist places in the interior of the Brazilian Northeast, respectively.
