SUMMARY:

Care Pathways emerge as a strategy for organizing clinical management and care,
considered a strategy aimed at promoting universality of care, decentralization with the
direction of users at various levels of care in the network in a resolutive and equitable
manner, mainly for chronic non-communicable or rare diseases. In this context, aplastic
anemia is a rare disease that affects about two to four cases per year in Brazil and is
characterized as a bone marrow failure disorder, resulting in bone marrow
hypocellularity and severe deficiency of Hematopoietic Stem Cells. The diagnosis of
this disease is complex, and during this process, the individual faces an extensive
therapeutic journey and several challenges, including fragmented care and a lack of
coordination between health services. Therefore, the development of a Care Pathway for
patients with aplastic anemia becomes fundamentally important as a support for clinical
management, a basis for clinical decisions, an expansion of professionals' knowledge,
and better patient follow-up within the Health Care Network. Given this, this study aims
to develop a Care Pathway for the health care of individuals with aplastic anemia. This
is a methodological study with a quantitative approach, systematized in the following
procedures: theoretical, in which a context analysis and focus groups will be conducted
with patients, caregivers, and health professionals linked to public institutions of
reference in hematology in Rio Grande do Sul. The empirical (experimental) procedures
will involve the construction of the Care Pathway and validation of its content and
appearance by participants in the focus groups and by expert judges in the field of
hematology. The analytical procedures will be carried out using the Delphi method, in
which the judges will systematically evaluate the technology, and the evaluations may
be repeated as many times as necessary. An item will be considered valid if it achieves
agreement ≥ 80% among the judges and a Content Validation Coefficient > 0.8. The
study will be submitted to the Research Ethics Committee of the Federal University of
Rio Grande do Norte, and the stages involving human subjects will begin after its
approval.
