Self-direction as the actor’s creative experience
Selfdirection. Creative process. Director. Actor. Performer.
This research aims the self-direction in a solo work. The study is part of a creative process that investigates ways to direct and the dynamics of those who create occupying the places of actor and director. In addition to the focus on the role of the actor and the director, the work also examines the performer's position on his creative autonomy. It was interviewed actors-directors who have been through the same experience recently, they are: Georgette Fadel, Nena Inoue, Matteo Bonfitto and Michel Melamed. The interviews were used for the analysis of the forms of self-direction and, from them, it was extracted points of discussion of the subject. In addition, reports of directors - such as Anne Bogart (2011), Peter Brook (2002), Antônio Araújo (2011) and David Mamet (2014) - serves as a theoretical basis for the work, as also works about the actor from the perspective of his creative autonomy, such as Matteo Bonfitto (2002 and 2013) and Cassiano Sidow Quilici (2015). I emphasize the use of the cartographic method, because the intervention of the researcher in the process and this researcher investigate the selfdirection in a creation experiment.
