SUMMARY:

Introduction: Pregnancy is a physiological process that leads to several
changes in the maternal body and, in unfavorable contexts, may progress to
high-risk conditions requiring specialized care. Despite the well-established
benefits of physical activity in preventing and managing adverse maternal
health outcomes, clinical practice indicates that adherence remains limited
among this population. Furthermore, aspects such as functionality and its
relationship with physical activity remain underexplored in this context,
revealing gaps in the literature regarding these variables. Therefore,

understanding the level of physical activity and the functional profile of high-
risk pregnant women is essential to support care strategies, health promotion,

and prevention of adverse outcomes. Objectives: To characterize and
analyze the clinical-obstetric profile of Brazilian high-risk pregnant women,
identifying their levels of physical activity and functional status or disability.
Secondary objectives include examining correlations between physical activity
levels and functionality, as well as comparing functional status across groups

with different high-risk diagnoses. Materials and Methods: This is a cross-
sectional observational study. Pregnant women with any high-risk condition,

aged 18 years or older, residing in Brazil, and with internet access will be
included. Participants will complete a structured assessment including
sociodemographic, gynecological, obstetric, and lifestyle data, as well as
validated instruments for assessing physical activity levels (Pregnancy
Physical Activity Questionnaire – PPAQ) and functionality/disability (World
Health Organization Disability Assessment Schedule – WHODAS 2.0). Data
will be analyzed using JASP software (version 0.95.3). Expected Results:
The findings are expected to support the development of strategies and tools
to increase adherence to physical activity among Brazilian high-risk pregnant
women, identify influencing factors, and contribute to preventive actions and
clinical interventions that promote physical activity during pregnancy.
Additionally, the study aims to address gaps in the national literature and
strengthen scientific and epidemiological knowledge in maternal health.
