SUMMARY:

Introduction: Triathlon training can exert a cumulative influence of stress,
causing imbalances between training sessions, recovery time and sleep
quality. In this context, sleep loss and/or poor sleep quality can impair aspects
of physical performance, including increased fatigue and reduced muscle
strength. Objective: To investigate whether sleep quality is associated with
differences in performance in muscular endurance tests and dynamic balance
in triathletes. Methods: This study is characterized as an investigative with a
cross-sectional design, in which 51 triathlon athletes, who are training for a
competition, of both sexes, will be evaluated, equally distributed among three
groups (17/group): the group with quality group with good sleep quality
(GQB), group with poor sleep quality (GQR) and group with sleep disorder
(GDS), according to pre-established criteria using the Brazilian version of the
Pittsburgh Sleep Quality Index (PSQI-BR). Participants will be evaluated
using shoulder endurance tests, unilateral sit-stand, single-leg back bridge,
toe raise and Y-balance test. Expected results: The results of this study will
serve as a basis for future research, paving the way for more detailed
investigations to advance knowledge of sleep and performance in triathletes.
