THE DYNAMICS OF THE CITY OF JUAZEIRO DO NORTE (CE) IN THE
TECHNICAL-SCIENTIFIC-INFORMATIONAL PERIOD
Keywords: Socio-spatial inequality, urban mobility, Juazeiro do Norte.
Urban space is a socially and historically produced product. In it there are the most varied structural processes that favor spoliation. Such processes are determined by the capitalist mode of production of space, specifically, of urban space. The dynamics of the city of Juazeiro do Norte (CE) is triggered according to this mode of production, because, in the technical-scientific-informational period, the hegemonic agents of the market act through banks, hypermarkets, concessionaires, industries, and the State. Therefore, Juazeiro do Norte plays a leading role in the Cariri Metropolitan Region, as it locates more complex landlines and markets than other cities in the region. In addition, the city of Juazeiro do Norte is characterized by socio-spatial inequality, resulting from the increase in urban land and problems for the daily mobility of people, especially workers. In this work we aim to analyze the urban dynamics of Juazeiro do Norte in the technical-scientific-informational period, considering the socio-spatial inequality and the daily commuting to work. For this, we carried out a literature review, survey of historical and statistical data, production of tables and graphs and field research with interviews.
