SUMMARY:

The aim of this study is to longitudinally evaluate the clinical esthetic, and patient-centered outcomes of single implant-supported crowns rehabilitated with different prosthetic abutments in the esthetic region. This is a non-randomized, controlled equivalence clinical trial with a longitudinal design, in which 30 patients participating in an institutional single implant-supported rehabilitation program were prospectively followed for up to 48 months. Participants were allocated into two groups according to the type of prosthetic abutment used: the UP group (n = 15), rehabilitated with a one-piece prefabricated titanium abutment, and the DP group (n = 15), rehabilitated with a two-piece customized titanium–zirconia abutment. Periodontal and peri-implant parameters, soft tissue and restorative esthetics, patient satisfaction, oral health-related quality of life, and ceramic restoration survival were assessed through clinical examinations, standardized photographic records, and validated questionnaires at different follow-up times. Peri-implant esthetics were evaluated using the Pink Esthetic Score (PES), crown esthetics using the White Esthetic Score (WES), patient satisfaction using a visual analog scale (VAS), and quality of life using the OIDP and OHIP-14 instruments. Statistical analysis will be performed according to data distribution, using appropriate tests for intergroup and longitudinal comparisons, as well as equivalence and survival analyses. The findings of this study may support clinical decision-making regarding the selection of prosthetic abutments for single implant-supported restorations in the anterior maxillary esthetic zone.
