SUMMARY:

Introduction: The demand for aesthetic and comfortable treatments within orthodontics has been growing in recent years. Treatment with orthodontic aligners has emerged as a tool to fill this gap. Attachments are a fundamental part of orthodontic treatment with aligners, as they provide greater three-dimensional control of tooth movement, increasing the predictability of results. Fracture or fall of these devices can cause delays in orthodontic treatment, causing loss of effectiveness of planned movement and tracking of the aligner. Objective: To evaluate the degree of conversion and shear bond strength of resins used to manufacture orthodontic attachments subjected to different photopolymerization protocols. Methodology: This will be an in vitro laboratory study whose experimental unit is the shear bond strength and the degree of conversion of the resins tested. The study sample will consist of 120 bovine lower incisors embedded in acrylic resin and used as a base for making rectangular attachments measuring 03 mm in length, 1.5 mm in width and 01 mm in height. The sample will be divided into 3 groups (40 teeth in each group) corresponding to the resins Opallis Flow®️ (FGM, Joinville, Paraná, Brazil), GrandioSO Heavy Flow®️ (VOCO, Porto Alegre, Rio Grande do Sul, Brazil) and Supreme Flowable Restorative®️ (3M, Sumaré, São Paulo, Brazil). Each resin group will be subdivided into 04 groups according to polymerization time (10 teeth in each subgroup): 03 seconds (3,200 mW/cm2), 06 seconds (3,200 mW/cm2), 20 seconds (1,000 mW/cm2) and 40 seconds (1,000 mW/cm2). After installing the attachments, the specimens will be subjected to the shear bond strength test in a universal Oswaldo Filizola testing machine (Oswaldo Filizola, São Paulo, Brazil), model AME5k, using a 5kN load cell until the attachment fractures. For the degree of conversion (DC) test, 60 composite resin specimens will be prepared in the shape of rectangular attachments with dimensions of 03 mm in length, 1.5 mm in width and 01 mm in height, divided into 03 groups (n= 20) according to the aforementioned resins and subdivided into groups (n=5) in relation to the polymerization times studied. The DC will be analyzed 24 hours after polymerization of the specimens using FT-IR infrared spectroscopy analysis on the Spectrum TwoTM device (Perkin Elmer, Waltham, Massachusetts, USA). The data will be analyzed using the Jamovi software using two-way ANOVA and Tukey post-test.
