Mental Health; Smartphone; Mental disorders.
The increasing prevalence of mental disorders among adolescents has drawn the attention of educators, health professionals, and public policy makers. In this regard, the objective of this work will be to develop and implement a mobile application for training in mental health and socio-emotional skills for high school students, evaluating its effectiveness, user acceptance, and impact on educational practices. This is an experimental study aimed at developing a technological innovation tool based on the creation of a mobile application. The project was submitted to the Research Ethics Committee (REC) of the Federal University of Rio Grande do Norte (UFRN) and approved under protocol number 8.060.251. The research will be conducted at the Francisco Joseane de Araújo Basic Health Unit in the municipality of Currais Novos/RN. The studied population consists of students enrolled in high school, aged between 14 and 18 years, from public or private schools in the city of Currais Novos/RN. Students enrolled in high school, aged between 14 and 18 years, from public or private schools will be included; high school teachers and mental health specialists (psychologists, psychiatrists, educators) who have experience or interest in promoting mental health and socio-emotional development in adolescents. The study will be structured in four distinct phases, with each phase being evaluated separately to ensure the effective development of the application aimed at training in mental health and socio-emotional skills for high school students. The criteria for creating the application's interface will be based on best practices in user-centered design and the literature on socio-emotional education and mental health in adolescents. The construction of the application will be carried out in partnership with a software development team specialized in educational and health applications. To validate the usability of the application, a validation questionnaire will be administered to teachers, students, and mental health specialists who use the prototype. The data obtained will be organized in spreadsheets and analyzed using appropriate statistical software, such as SPSS®.
