Presentation

The Postgraduate Program in Education, Work, and Innovation in Medicine plays a strategic role in producing knowledge, technologies, and innovations in health education aligned with the challenges posed in the field of health training, the health needs of individuals, and the process of reorienting health work within the Brazilian Unified Health System (SUS). Education, Work, and Innovation reflects an understanding of the central role of education in reorienting health work and innovating care processes aligned with the provision of health services consistent with complex and dynamic health needs.

Therefore, the program's area of concentration is Education, Work, and Innovation in Medicine, reflecting its vocation and expertise in knowledge production in these broad fields. It also explicitly states the intention to adopt theoretical, conceptual, and methodological frameworks for teaching aimed at reorienting health training, work, and innovation in medicine and health, primarily focused on reducing local and regional inequalities, and promoting social transformation and justice.

Given its context and alignment with CAPES's Teaching area, the PPGETIM's mission is to train professionals committed to educating qualified health professionals for the public health network in the interior of the state of Rio Grande do Norte, with a strong connection to the socioeconomic and cultural reality of the regions involved and a commitment to improving the quality of health care provided to the population. These professionals should be able to combine qualified technical and scientific training with ethical and humanistic attitudes that enable them to work together with other professionals, contribute, through teaching, to the reorientation of training and work in health, and contribute to innovation in medicine and health. Because it includes a training process embedded in the Unified Health System (SUS), the program's mission includes training professionals suitable to work effectively in the context of the interfaces between Health and Education, with an emphasis on rural areas and outside large urban centers, always valuing the health needs of the population and their ethical and cultural values.
