SUMMARY:

Telemedicine has become established as an innovative strategy for improving care
and strengthening in-service training in Primary Health Care (PHC). This study aimed
to report the experience of implementing and executing educational activities focused
on cervical-vaginal collection, HPV DNA testing, and colposcopic image acquisition in
PHC, with the issuance of reports through telemedicine. This is a qualitative
experience report, developed at the EMCM School Clinic in the municipalities of
Caicó/RN and Santa Cruz/RN, involving women referred by the municipal system
(SISREG) and nursing and medical residents. The activities included welcoming
participants, providing guidance, performing gynecological examinations, collecting
material for cytology and HPV DNA testing, and acquiring colposcopic images, under
faculty supervision. Data analysis was performed using Bardin's Content Analysis.
Among 412 examinations performed, 73 colposcopic reports were issued via
telemedicine, involving women aged between 18 and 60 years. The results showed
adequate technical quality of the samples, with a predominance of transformation zone
type 1, negative Schiller test and good visibility of the cervix, in addition to a positive
impact on the training of residents. It is concluded that telemedicine proved to be
effective as a diagnostic and formative support tool, contributing to the qualification of
practices in primary health care and to the strengthening of cervical cancer screening
actions.
