Ischemic Stroke (IS) represents a significant public health issue in Brazil and worldwide, given its substantial socioeconomic impact and high mortality rate. However, the absence of regional protocols for care in Primary Health Care leads to variations in the quality of care provided. This study aims to develop a protocol to guide Primary Care teams in managing IS in the elderly in the municipality of Caicó/RN. Data collection involved a review of the following databases: Scielo, PubMed, and CAPES journals, constituting the first stage of the research. Subsequently, the organization and care flow of family health teams for IS patients were understood, and the protocol was effectively created. The desired outcomes include the implementation of an efficient protocol focused on the prevention, diagnosis, and treatment of IS, aiming to standardize patient care. This project seeks to improve the quality of care provided in Primary Care, contributing to the reduction of its morbidity and mortality and associated costs, serving as a tool to facilitate decision-making and shared care actions for stroke management.
