MEDICAL CLINIC RESIDENCY IN THE SERIDO´S REGIONAL HOSPITAL: PERCEPTION OF HEALTH PROFESSIONALS
preceptorship;training;health care;general medicine
Through the internalization of medical courses in inland cities of Brazil, resulting from the More Physicians Program (PMM) in 2014, the Federal University of Rio Grande do Norte creates the Multicampi School of Medical Sciences (EMCM/UFRN). In order to promote professional fixation and broaden the internalization policy, EMCM created, in 2016 four healthy residency programs, namely: Multidisciplinary Residency in Primary Care, Multidisciplinary Residency in Maternal and Child Health, Residency in Family and Community Medicine, Residency in General Surgery. In 2017, the fifth postgraduate program was installed, the Medical Clinic Residency Program, (PRCM) whose main practice scenario is the Seridó Regional Hospital (HRS). One of the main objectives of these programs is to impact the work processes and organization of the practice scenarios. The Medical Residency Program in Medical Clinic (PRCM) has as its main practice scenario the Seridó Regional Hospital (HRS). This study is an experience report from the involvements of the first three program residents and aims to identify changes in work processes, as well as to assess the benefits and structural challenges of PRCM from the perspective of workers. Data collection was conducted between July and August 2017 through semi-structured interviews, participant observation. The main points of discussion were the preceptorship of the residence and the medical corporatism installed in the region, analyzed from the perspective of thematic analysis. The SWOT matrix technique was also used to perform a comparative analysis between CNRM recommendations and the routines from residents in order to recommend modifications to the PRCM curriculum. We can conclude that for the improvement in the internalization of medical education in the country, it is still necessary preceptorship interested in providing quality care along with residency in medical clinic, constituting the main theme to be considered as negatively influencing the process of vocational training. There are good initiatives and strategies aimed at facilitating the entry of professionals into the service, from the university, but there are still barriers to be overcome, especially regarding the corporatism of the medical class along with the indiscriminate political influences existing in the country.
