POLITICAL CHANGES IN BRAZILIAN PRIMARY HEALTH CARE AND ITS IMPLICATIONS FOR PSYCHOSOCIAL CARE IN A MUNICIPALITY OF PARAIBA

Introduction: Psychosocial Care (AP) has a strategic place in the Health Care Network, offering comprehensive, longitudinal and free care to users in mental distress at the most diverse levels of care, which includes Primary Health Care (APS). However, the political-social situation of polarization and instability experienced around the world in recent years has been threatening health care through organizational and financing changes. Objective: To identify the impact of changes in the National Primary Care Policy (PNAB) on Psychosocial Care in the context of APS in the city of Cuité / PB. Methodology: This is a qualitative and exploratory study that is being developed with data production carried out through semi-structured interviews and documentary analysis. Nurses and Community Health Agents linked to the Family Health Strategy (ESF) in the city of Cuité / PB are particiants of the research. Municipal Health Plans and Annual Management Reports prepared between 2012-2023 were also analyzed. The data produced is being analyzed by using Minayo's Thematic Content Analysis technique. All stages of the research were carried out according to ethical and information security principles recommended in resolution 466/2012 of the National Health Council (CNS). Partial Results: This study intends to verify and understand, from the documentary analysis and interviews collected, the impacts of changes in APS over time in Psychosocial Care, as well as to assist management and professionals in improving mental health care through analysis of potential that can help in the managing of local complexities.
