SUMMARY:

Introduction: The NutriSUS Strategy for the Fortification of Infant Feeding with Powdered Micronutrients is a public policy of the Brazilian Ministry of Health that aims to prevent and control nutritional deficiencies in children aged 6 to 48 months. The strategy consists of adding a mixture of vitamins and minerals in powder to one of the daily meals offered to children. The strategy was launched in March 2015 and reformulated in 2022 to improve its effectiveness and coverage. The reforms included expanding the age range served, increasing the dose of micronutrients, and including new communication and awareness strategies. The proposed research aims to analyze the effectiveness of implementing the NutriSUS Strategy in the Basic Health Units (UBS) of Campo Redondo-RN and its operationalization phases. Methodology: This is a single-case study with a qualitative descriptive approach with a holistic focus. The research will be developed in the municipality of Campo Redondo-RN, Brazil. The UBS of the urban and rural regions will constitute the field of observation. Data collection will be carried out with the help of semi-structured interviews with health professionals from the UBS, parents or guardians of children served by the NutriSUS Strategy, and children served by the strategy. The interviews will be recorded and transcribed for later analysis. The data will be analyzed according to their variables, sequenced, and categorized for better accuracy of their results. The results will be tabulated in a clear and concise way to facilitate the analysis and interpretation process. Preliminary Results: The documentary analysis carried out so far has made it possible to collect information on the trajectory of the NutriSUS strategy. The data were analyzed using information related to the year of publication of documents, places of publication, frequency of news published on official websites of the Brazilian government, and the types of documents found. These results will contribute positively to the understanding of the initial milestone of the strategy and the course of implementation and changes that occurred. Final Considerations: It is expected that the project will positively impact both the target audience and the health system that will execute the intervention. From the results obtained, it will be possible to propose improvements in the implementation of NutriSUS and, consequently, to make it available to the population effective products, thus strengthening the health system.
