SPATIAL AND EPIDEMIOLOGICAL ANALYSIS OF CASES OF CONGENITAL SYPHILIS IN THE STATE OF RIO GRANDE DO NORTE 2011-2021

Introduction: Syphilis is a sexually transmitted infection caused by the bacterium Treponema Pallidum, considered one of the oldest diseases in the world. The epidemiological situation in the state of Rio Grande do Norte is no different, and may be even more worrying than other states. Studies show that Rio Grande do Norte is one of the states with high rates of acquired, maternal and congenital syphilis. Objective: To analyze the spatial and epidemiological distribution of cases of congenital syphilis in Rio Grande do Norte. Methodology: This is a descriptive study, with a quantitative approach, which appropriates instruments for collecting secondary data in public and private agencies, at municipal, state and federal levels. Preliminary Results: The incidence and prevalence of cases of syphilis in Rio Grande do Norte, it being clear that in certain regions the course of the disease within health services is weakened by incipient knowledge that affects from diagnosis, notification, treatment and, proportionally, the cure. Final considerations of the work: With the qualification, the theoretical framework will be expanded, the inclusion of other results and analyses. In addition, all research will be transformed into new scientific articles aimed at disseminating the results found.
